The 2021 Sportster® S
I’ve been waiting for this day for nearly 2 years...
Those of you that know me... understand that I am a huge Sportster® fan. It started years ago when a TV show called “Then Came Bronson” aired on NBC in the US. It was an adventure/drama series that featured a down-on-his-luck guy (played by the late Michael Parks) who becomes disillusioned with his career, quits his job and starts wandering the roads on his motorcycle. I can still relate to the "wanderer" part for sure but even more impactful on me... was the beautiful red 1969 XLH 900 Harley-Davidson Sportster he rode. It was way cool and inspired my lifelong love of the Harley-Davidson Sportster.
Despite owning Softail and multiple Touring Bikes over the years, I’ve never lost my love for the “Sporty” and somehow always seem to find one in my garage. Even during those times when I owned both a Touring Bike and Sportster simultaneously... I always seemed to find myself in the saddle of the smaller, more nimble bike. It was just way easier to roll it out of the garage and quickly find a nice secluded and winding road to tear up.
So... when I first became aware of a modern day design enhancement (a couple years ago), my interest was immediately peaked. And now, here we are on Tuesday July 13 and the all-new 2021 Sportster® S is officially launched.
It does not disappoint!
In the 64th year of Sportster... the new 2021 Sportster® S offers top-of-the-line performance and stunning style. It allows a rider to combine aggressive riding with sport bike agility and handling... making a statement and standing out in a crowd. And IMO... it looks fantastic!!
Here’s the details...
ALL-NEW REVOLUTION® MAX 1250T: The next chapter in a century of legendary V-Twins is here. Revolution® Max is a liquid-cooled powertrain with double overhead camshafts and variable valve timing: offering ample torque and an immediate powerband tuned to maximize rider control.
HIGH MOUNT EXHAUST: Inspired by the glory days of H-D flat-track racing, the pipes are crafted from corrosion-resistant 304-series stainless steel and engineered to deflect exhaust heat away from the rider’s legs and tail section.
4” ROUND DISPLAY: Everything you need to know is housed in a Bluetooth®-equipped, 4” round thin-film transistor LCD display: digital gauges, indicators, ride modes, and turn-by-turn navigation with the Harley-Davidson® app. All functions are accessed via buttons on the left- and right-hand controls.
CHOOSE YOUR RIDE MODE: Flick a switch and choose from 3 pre-programmed Ride Modes (Sport, Road, and Rain) or create your own custom mode — tuning your bike with a specific combination of power delivery, engine braking, Cornering Enhanced Antilock Braking System (C-ABS) and Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System (C-TCS) settings.
DUAL PURPOSE POWERTRAIN: The Revolution® Max 1250T is a structural component of the motorcycle chassis, eliminating a traditional frame — which significantly reduces overall weight and keeps handling precise. This is performance you can feel, with the center of gravity low and the chassis super rigid.
