Who Is This Man?
Some people walk through life, never giving their surroundings a second thought. But others, like me, are keenly aware of the world they live in and take it all in.
If you’re one of my fellow observant types who is inclined to notice the small things... you’ve no doubt caught a glimpse of the picture of this gentleman at Boswell's. He graces the walls of Fesslers and is immortalized on every hang tag on every bike at each Boswell’s location.
Several of you have asked me who he is and some have even speculated who he is... concluding he’s just some "old guy" with his Harley, William Harley, Arthur Davidson and a few other guesses that are too humorous to mention here. None of those would be correct.
Pictured here, sometime in the late 1940s, is Bubba’s Grandpa Lannie Boswell. It’s a significant picture in the history of Boswell’s Harley-Davidson because Grandpa Boswell played a big part in the start up of Boswell’s Harley-Davidson.
Like many fathers, Grandpa Boswell was first skeptical of his son’s business endeavor, but he did finally agree to financially support it. The rest as they say is history and his decision to go along with the idea is what put a 70+ year legacy in motion. (A funny story... though he was hesitant at first, he later claimed that entering into this business was his own idea. Can you blame him?)
So the next time you’re walking through Boswell’s Harley-Davidson, take note of this guys picture. We think he’s well worth the second look and we’re grateful for this thing he helped put in motion all those years ago.
Boswell’s Harley-Davidson... serving riders since 1950.
